வீடு, கடை மற்றும் பிற கட்டிடங்களின் கூறையில் அல்லது மொட்டை மாடிகளில் சூரிய ஒளி மின் தகடுகளை பொறுத்தி அதிலிருந்து மின்சாரம் உற்பத்தி செய்து பயன்படுத்தலாம். நம் கட்டத்தில் உள்ள மின் இணைப்பில் நெட் மீட்டரீங் கருவியை பொருத்திவிட்டால் பகலில் நம் தேவைக்குமேல் உற்பத்தியாகும் மின்சாரம் மின்வாரியத்திற்கு சென்றுவிடும். இரவில் மின்வாரிய மீட்டரில் இருந்து தேவையான மின்சாரம் கிடைக்கும். இதில் பேட்டரி பொருத்த வேண்டிய தேவை இல்லை. நடைமுறைச் செலவு எதுவும் கிடையாது. முதலில் இக்கருவியை அமைக்கும் செலவு மாத்திரம் தான். பிறகு எந்த செலவும் இல்லாமல் நமக்கு நிரந்திரமாக மின்சாரம் உற்பத்தியாகிக் கொண்டே இருக்கும். எந்த பாதிப்பும் இல்லாமல் 25 வருடங்கள் வரை மின்சாரம் கிடைக்கும். சூரிய வெளிச்சம் தான் வேண்டும் என்பதால் வருடம் 365 நாட்களும் மின்சாரம் உற்பதியகிக்கொண்டே இருக்கும். இச்சாதனம் நிரந்திரமாக மின்சாரம் கொடுக்கும் ஒரு காமதேனுதான். சூரிய ஒளி மின் தகடுகளுக்கு 25 வருடம் உத்திரவாதம் தருகிறோம். நம் உபயோகத்திற்கு ஒரு நாளைக்கு எவ்வளவு மின்சாரம் தேவை என்பதை பொருத்து 4 யூனிட், 8 யூனிட், 16 யூனிட் என்று இதன் அளவை நிர்ணயித்துகொல்ள்ளலாம்.

தற்சமயம், மின்வாரியம் இருமாதத்திற்கு ஒரு முறை கணக்கெடுத்து பில் கட்டச்சொல்கிறது. முதல் 100 யூனிட் இலவசம், 200 யூனிட் வரை ரூ.2, அதற்கு மேல் 500 யூனிட் வரை ரூ.3.60 என்றும் 500 யுனிட்டைத் தாண்டினால் ரூ.6.60 என்றும் வசுலிக்கப்படுகிறது. நடுத்தர குடும்பங்கள் மின் உபயோகத்தில் 500 யூனிட்டை தாண்டிவிடும் எனவே யூனிட்டுக்கு ரூ.6.60, அல்லது அதற்கு மேலும் கொடுகவேண்டியதிருக்கிறது. திட்டமிட்டு செயல்பட்டால் மின் செலவை கணிசமாக குறைக்கவோ அல்லது இல்லாமல் செய்யவோ முடியும்.
